Australian Customs Service Overview   ——

Australian Customs

Australian Customs Service derives its authority principally from the Australian Constitution, which provides for the levying of customs duties and for laws with respect to trade and commerce.

For visitors, Customs Officers are most visible at shipping ports and airports. Yet behind the scenes they work closely with the Australian Federal Police and Quarantine Officers to prevent illicit goods from being imported into Australia.

Customs Officers use a wide range of available technology to assist in the fight against smuggling.
